Mathematical Learning Profiles: Understanding Why Math is So Hard for Some Students

Results from a retroactive chart review of patients referred for evaluation at a metropolitan, pediatric medical center’s Learning Disabilities Program reveal that students in grades 3 – 5 present with a variety of cognitive difficulties that impact math learning. The prevalence and manifestation of these difficulties, and implications for interventions, will be discussed.
